One of the hottest topics at the moment regards our impact on the environment. As such, we are all looking at ways to cut back on the amount of energy we use. As with many things, this energy conservation begins at home. Here is a selection of top tips to help you cut down accordingly.
Two of the biggest wastes of energy in the home are inefficient use of heating and cooling systems so, as a first step, ensure these are well maintained. Secondly, try notching your thermostats down a degree or two; you shouldn’t feel the impact too much physically but you sure will financially. Also ensure your air conditioning unit has good airflow, and any obstructions are removed.
Household appliances are also big users of energy, notably washers and dryers. Ideally, washing should be line dried in the fresh air. This obviously is a big saver, but also adds certain freshness. If the dryer does have to be used however, try and do loads so that one load goes in as soon as another finishes. This helps to retain heat in the dryer and saves energy.
Another appliance that eats up energy is the refrigerator. There are not too many people that clean the rear of their refrigerators all too often but, if this is done weekly or at least monthly, dust will be kept to a minimum and the refrigerator will operate much more efficiently. Also, the seal around the doors should be checked often to ensure there are no leaks wasting energy.
Ovens and stoves should also be well maintained; dust, grease and grime reduce efficiency and vary the cooking temperatures produced dramatically. It is also worth having a thermometer to use in an oven to get the exact temperature, as LED displays are not always accurate. A side benefit of the thermometer is that you will likely find that your food cooks better.
These are only a few basic steps to help get you started with home energy conservation. Once started, you are sure to find many other areas you can cut back on or make more efficient. Not only are you helping to do your small bit for society, but your bank balance will look a whole lot better too.
There is a new law in Virginia that will ban Motorcycle Club Colors in Bars. The law, originally aimed at Street Gangs, is causing quite a stir with Virginia Bikers. The law states that Bar & Restaurant owners will lose their liquor license if they allow patrons who wear \”gang\” related attire such as Club Logo\’s or Colored Bandannas.
These sort of \”grey area\” laws are extremely dangerous and a threat to everyone\’s freedom. Who decides what constitutes \”Gang Apparel\”? I\’m wondering if Boy Scouts are going to be able to eat together at Applebees if they are in their uniforms.
According to news reports, many Bikers and Motorcycle Club Members in Virginia have already begun fighting this law. If a law like this is allowed to stand in Virginia, it won\’t be long until it is passed in other states across America!
We as Motorcyclists and Bikers (It does not matter what you call yourself) have to realize fast that we are all connected. It doesn\’t matter what you ride, what State you live in or who you Support, we\’re all in this together. What effects Me effects you and it doesn\’t matter what you happen to think of me.
When the local Bar you and your Brothers love hanging out at is told that you and all other members of Motorcycle Clubs can no longer go there or they will revoke the Bars liquor license, What then?
This is no Joke my Biker Brothers, every month there is another new law that is aimed not only Motorcycle Club Members, but all Americans. It seems that every time the Government wants to take away a freedom, they find a way to craft a new law for our \”safety\”. What kind of Country is this turning into when you can\’t wear what you want and suddenly, your constitutional right to assemble is taken away from you?
Although there are many ignorant people out there that believe Motorcycle Clubs are Gangs, that\’s simply not the case. Most Motorcycle Clubs are made up of hard working, honest, law abiding, patriotic, American Citizens who enjoy a common bond, Motorcycles. It\’s what is in a persons heart that determines who they are, not the clothes they wear.
In the past year the government has taken away the Colors of one Motorcycle Club. A law enforcement officer can demand anyone sporting the Clubs logo to forfeit it. The theory is that the loss of the logo strips the club of its \”gang identity.\”
Grant it, it appears that some of the Clubs members may have been involved in illegal activities, but that doesn\’t mean that everyone who rides a Motorcycle should be punished for it. In fact, less than 10% of this 600 Member Club was even accused of wrong doing.
In addition, the Government and law enforcement agencies have been spending millions of our dollars to influence friends and ex-members of Motorcycle Clubs in an effort to infiltrate these clubs in hopes of catching members doing something illegal. Often, when they find that the Club they\’ve infiltrated is nothing more than a group of Patriotic, Law Abiding Men & Women, they\’ll fabric wrong doing so that they can justify the enormous amount of resources spent on these Fishing Expeditions.
Just imagine how much better off we\’d all be if they used those resources to investigate the Corrupt Politicians, the Corporations that control our Country, Wall Street, and the other issues that are quickly sinking this great Nation.
What I want to know is, what will be the last straw? What\’s it going to take for us to say enough is enough? We can not fight these Laws and Fight each other at the same time! We need to work together to save what we are, who we are.
The Government has taken away our rights to ride the Motorcycle we want, to wear what we want and now to go where we want! Why are we still fighting each other? When are we going to wake up??

Only a few weeks ago the federal government in essence legalized pot smoking found in the marijuana dispensary venice. The leader of the most powerful country in the world announce that the federal government would no longer prosecute people who smoked pot for medicinal purposes. Now all those sick pot smokers can light up without fear from the feds.
The federal law supersedes the state law allowing pot smokers to use their medical need as an excuse to buy pot and to get high. But because the leader of the most powerful country in the world declared that the feds would no longer enforce the federal law in states president pot use for medicinal reasons the pot smokers are now free to get high without fear because our leader will now not allow the federal cops to interfere with “sick” people’s right to get high in order to soothe their “pain.”
I know the sickness pot cures. It is called sick of work, sick of school, sick of mom and dad. The sickness that pot claims to relieve is the sickness of having to live sober in our everyday life. I mean who can blame a pot smoker for wanting to ease the pain he gets from his demanding boss. And what student should have to put up with his demanding teachers without being able to quiet his pain with a few bong hits?
Who cannot understand the need for a little medicine after such a hard day at work? Surely our leader understands this. And for you students that have to deal with tests and mean teachers. Who can blame you for being sick of school. Who can deprive the student of his medicine after a hard day in the classroom. All the pain filled pot smoker needs is a prescription from an understanding doctor.
Years ago I read this satirical article about Dan Quayle, the former vice president who was portrayed by the media as lacking in intelligence. The fictional article had him elected as president of the U. S. His first act was to legalize drugs like pot. As he signs the bill he is heard saying, “all right let’s give this a try.” The article then goes on to predict the terrible results of Quayle’s act and blames him for the mess.
The blame was leveled on the inept Quayle who at the time, in the fictional article, thought it was a good idea to make drugs like pot legal. Such articles kept Dan Quayle from ever thinking of running for president. If he did he would have been laughed out of the race by those who questioned his intelligence.
However today think our current leader is highly intelligent. He has for all intents and purposes made pot, a once illegal drug, legal. Do not talk about the medicinal qualification, that is only a weak facade. A small piece of paper from an agreeable doc is all that is needed to get high legally.
I wonder where are the writers who poked fun at Dan Quayle. Where is the one who wrote the article predicting that he would legalize drugs like pot writing about the problems such an act would cause. Maybe because the man who legalized pot is so intelligent these writers are saying, “all right let us give it a try.

With so much need for financial aid right now, many people are going online to see what they can find. It seems a large number of them think they might be able to get money from the stimulus bill that was passed out earlier in the year. It is true that the Democrats do have a long history of giving out money but in this instance it might be hard to get any from a grant or loan. It might be that people thought there could be a stimulus rebate check in the works as was given out to people several years ago under the Bush administration.
Many Americans are having a very difficult time right now financially and they are looking for ways out anywhere they can find them. Because the stimulus bill is so big and so many companies seem to be getting bailed out, people might be under the impression that there is money for them there as well. They don’t understand or care that all the money from the stimulus bail out is coming from our own taxpayer dollars. It will be our children that will end up paying for much of this in the form of higher taxes.
It is kind of sad that there are so many misguided people who think that they can profit from Obama’s presidency and the government. The government is there to help with certain things and keep order but it is not there to take things from one group of people and give them to another group.
There are indeed some people that will get government assistance in many different ways but no one is going to directly get free money out of this. Unless Obama decides to cut all lower income families a stimulus check, there will be no handouts. The chance of that happening though, is slim as there just isn’t enough money to go around.
The stimulus act was mainly to help some businesses and state governments get their feet back on the ground after a terrible financial spell. There is little in it for the common person and as always, it is very complicated to learn what is available and how to apply for it if you qualify. It seems that no matter how much you need additional funds, the stimulus package is probably not your solution.

Gold investing has always been popular among those that want to protect themselves from really hard times in the economy. These are most certainly the worst of times economically and those who have gold have done reasonably will with it. But it still hasn’t gone up like you might have thought it would with stocks performing so poorly.
During normal economic times most people invest in gold by buying gold stocks or ETFs which are much easier than actually collecting the physical gold. However, due to all the scandals and uncertainty in the financial markets, more people have been choosing to buy real gold coins and gold bars. This presents a storage problem but some people are gearing up for really rough times ahead and feel safer with real gold in their hands.
